Frac Design Notes
Each note works up a complete set of frac design parameters for one formation: the well and completion data, the reservoir and rock properties, the fluid and proppant, and a pump schedule for a single stage of a multi-stage horizontal well.
The notes distinguish published data, selected assumptions and calculated results.
Each parameter set is built into FastFrac as a worked example. The notes give you the inputs and the reasoning behind them; the fracture geometry, the treatment schedule and the placement checks come from opening the design and running it.
These are starting points for your own work, not substitutes for your logs and a diagnostic injection test on the well in front of you.
- Wolfcamp Frac Design Parameters, Midland BasinMidland Basin Wolfcamp B. Reservoir, rock, fluid and proppant inputs with ranges and sources, and a worked stage pump schedule.
- Marcellus Frac Design Parameters, Appalachian BasinAppalachian Basin Marcellus Shale. A gas reservoir, a fracture contained at 350 ft between the Tully and Onondaga limestones, and every parameter set against what Marcellus operators pump today.
- Haynesville Shale Frac Design, East Texas and LouisianaAn undepleted Haynesville gas-reservoir example with P110 casing and a 600-ft containment height. Published context, selected assumptions, pump schedule and calculated results.
Every note is a design you can open and run. Each one ships as a worked example inside FastFrac.
