FastFrac is hydraulic fracture design software for one stage of a frac treatment. Enter well completion, reservoir, rock-mechanics, fluid, proppant and pumping-schedule data. The engine works the job one stage at a time, solving fracture geometry by iterating between the Carter leakoff balance and the elastic width relation.
It returns the frac treatment design in full: rates, volumes, sand, surface pressure and hydraulic horsepower, alongside fracture half length, created width and the propped width each stage places. A geometry view then shows where every stage ends up in the fracture at the end of pumping, and how much of it is still there after leakoff.
Built for multi-stage horizontal and vertical wells in unconventional and conventional reservoirs. Every equation the model applies in hydraulic fracturing, with its published source, is set out on the Basis page inside the software. The design notes below work up complete frac designs for the Marcellus, Midland Basin Wolfcamp B and Haynesville, parameter by parameter.

Evaluate FastFrac free for seven days. A card is required; nothing is charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel before then. After the trial your chosen plan starts automatically.
Prices in US dollars, plus applicable sales tax. Payment is handled by Stripe; FastFrac never sees your card number. Subscriptions renew automatically; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. See the Terms of Service and Refund Policy.
Results update as you type. A value in amber has an input outside the correlation's stated range of validity and is still computed. Use the Use in design buttons to copy a result into the design's inputs.
At zero loading: IAPWS freshwater viscosity at 0.1 MPa. Below 10 lb: interpolated to the 10 lb estimate. Gel estimates use three charts from the author's engineering files, including extrapolation; original references are unavailable. Clean base fluid only, before crosslinking or adding proppant.

Specific gravity is dimensionless. Use the manufacturer's particle or apparent specific gravity when available; bulk density includes the spaces between grains.

About these two tables. Typical values from the author's working files, kept over a career; the original published source was not retained and the figures have not been re-verified against it. They are screening values for a first estimate only. Confirm Poisson's ratio and Young's modulus against core tests, logs or a published correlation for the formation in question before relying on them. Use at your own risk.
Every equation the Toolbox applies, in the order it applies them. Field units throughout: psia, °F, °API, specific gravity relative to air, scf/STB, mole % and weight % entered as whole numbers. Constants inside an equation are part of it as published.

Every equation the engine applies, in the order it applies them. Constants shown inside an equation are part of that equation as published and are not derived here. Where the same equation appears in more than one source, all of them are listed.
